Master Sculptor - Chisel and Stone: Matteo the otter raising a mallet over a block of marble, with a Tuscan town behind

A cosy stone-carving game.

Shape real marble, chip by chip, as Matteo the otter sculptor in Renaissance Tuscany. Carve for the town’s quirkiest patrons, haul your stone home by ox cart and polish every piece until it shines. Play it Relaxed, or as a Master where stone can crack.

Coming to Steam · Windows · April 2027
Demo in Steam Next Fest, February 2027. The Steam page goes live in December, and the wishlist link will be right here.

What you’ll do

Carve real stone

Every strike takes real stone away. Rough it out with the point chisel, shape it with claw and flat chisels, refine it with rasps and files, then sand and polish until it gleams. Hit too hard near an edge and a corner might just snap off.

Work for the town’s odder patrons

Commissions turn up on a carved marble map of Collemarmo as red wax seals. A baker who needs a doorstop. A guild that wants an amphora. A farmer who would like his prize turnip immortalised. Haggle over the fee, pick your stone and get to work.

Haul your block home

Buy your marble at the quarry, then drive it home by ox cart. Every knock on the road leaves a real chip in the stone. Take the gentle road past the kilns, or carve the keystone that repairs the old bridge and open up the steep short cut.

Look after your tools

Chisels wear down as you work. Sharpen them yourself at Bruno’s grindstone (do it really well and you’ll earn a keen edge) or, once you’ve made a name for yourself, leave them with Bruno.

Make a name for yourself

Every finished piece builds your prestige. Climb from Apprentice to Master, and the town opens up: rarer stone at the quarry, finer tools at the forge, bigger carts and bigger commissions.

Play it your way

On Relaxed the stone is forgiving and the cart can drive itself. On Master a careless blow can crack a block and a rough road can split one. Somewhere in between is Standard. You choose how much the stone fights back.

Meet the locals

Matteo the otter

Matteo
A young otter sculptor with a beanie, an apron and big ambitions. Also the studio cat’s favourite person.

Sandro the rhino at the stone yard

Mastro Sandro
Runs the stone yard at the mouth of the quarry. Gruff, proud of his marble, and always happy to sell you something heavy.

Bruno the bison at his anvil

Bruno
The town smith. Far too busy for a new sculptor, at first. His grindstone is free to use, though.

Bettina the raven behind the Emporio counter

Signora Bettina
Keeps the Emporio at the end of the bridge, and keeps a very careful ledger. Carts, upgrades and odds and ends.
